About Michael Marks

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Michael H. Marks has spent his life helping the people of his community. From his law practice to his volunteer work, it all centers on assisting the elderly with their planning for the future. With the desire to help others and his love of Pittsburgh, Michael established Marks Elder Law firm in the city.

Marks Elder Law focuses on providing a variety of services built on integrity and transparency within elder law. Since 1979, Michael Marks’ firm has helped thousands of clients in the areas of estate planning, inheritance taxes, real estate and business management, and much more. Whether preparing a will or helping secure financing for nursing home care, Michael Marks elder law services adds a personal and individual touch to each case.

Before beginning his career as an elder law attorney, Michael earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. During this time, he was elected to the Order of Barristers, an organization dedicated to the reinforcement of advocacy and writing skills in moot court and mock trial programs. He also completed a clerkship with the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. In conjunction with his Juris Doctorate and not straying too far from Pitt, Michael Marks attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Business Administration. Here, he received his Masters of Business Administration. While in this program, Michael Marks excelled so well, that the faculty elected him to the national honor society of Beta Gamma Sigma.

Involving himself in the community is a major part of who Michael H. Marks is as a person. Michael Marks is an active member of his community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Gateway Rehabilitation Center and chairs two committees within the center as well.  He previously was the past Chair of Allegheny County Drug and Alcohol Planning Council and the Co-Chair of the Allegheny County Managed Care Committee. Within these roles, he was responsible for county’s implementation of Pennsylvania’s state behavioral health policies. Michael holds memberships with the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Pennsylvania Association of Elder Law Attorneys, to name a few.

Though Michael enjoys helping his clients and volunteering, he is most at home on the water; either fishing or participating in water sports.
